When the creature--because it certainly wasn't human, still so strong after having taken with that amount of damage--attacked her, Zuko moved forward to help, but it seemed unnecessary a moment later. She was fast. And a lot stronger than she looked, but Zuko wasn't surprised; he knew many very strong women who were excellent fighters and he was hardly one to judge based on that.
