29 - [voice] Hospital time again

[There's a bit of silence, with just some quiet rustling for a few seconds, and then a soft sigh before Zuko speaks. He sounds somewhat resigned and really exhausted.]

I'm back. Sorry if I worried anyone. I'm fine.

[Another pause, and a muffled, strained cough. The next part is mumbled kind of quickly and sheepishly]

I... I'm... um, at the hospital. If anyone wanted to know.

Oh... Jackie, and Jackie's friends... Um, thanks.

[ He must not know haru very well then. ]

But I don't want to.

[Yeah, he kinda fails at people skills. Including friend-skills. :| ]

Where would we even find girl's--?

NO. This isn't a joke, Haru!

Ask a girl.

[Frown, and his tone is a lot more serious. He still feels really guilty, and Haru's just as flippant as usual. It's kind of unnerving.]

If you're mad at me, Haru, you can punch me. You can give me back every injury I gave you, and more. I won't protest.

But stop treating this like a joke.

[ He just stared at Zuko with eyes that said he wasn't joking. He sat up in the bed.]

Our friendship means more than any injury on my body. You could have sent me to my death bed, and I would still only care of our friendship. I can't be mad at you. I am just as guilty.

[Zuko's eyes dropped to his lap at Haru's words, swallowing thickly past the lump suddenly in his throat]

You... mean that? How can you just say it so easily, that you can't be upset even if I'd...?

[His stare softened a little and a small smile appeared on his face.]

Life is too short to hold horrible feelings towards others. If you keep letting this problem hurt you, you'll never move on and grow from it.

...[Pauses a little.] A true friend is someone who cherishes you despite your faults. They forgive you and continue caring no matter what happens. That's what I believe.

[Golden eyes flicker up for a moment to stare at Haru before suddenly, Zuko turns away, hiding his face. After a few moments, he speaks in a very quiet voice, still not looking back]

Thank you, Haru.

[Laughs softly and sits back again.] I can be patient for you.

[He tossed over his super awesome jacket with his other hand.] If you need to blow your nose.

That's... appreciated.

[he catches it on instinct, even if a sleeve kind of whaps him in the head]

Huh? If I need to--? I'm not crying!

[And to prove it, he looks over and scowls. That wiping his face on his sleeve thing right before was just because his face was, uh, itchy. :| ]

[He looks over at him with a chuckle in his throat and just smiles.]

Ah, I see.

G-good.

[He crosses his arms in a huff, then winces slightly at the careless motion, looking down at the coat in his lap]

Aren't you cold?

I got blankets, I'm fine. [He stretched up his arms wincing at his right arm, and starts moving off his bed.]

[Zuko unfolds his arms after a second, looking thoughtful and stretching the coat over his lap on top of the blankets absently. He looks up when Haru moves, blinking in surprise.]

Hey. Should you be up?

Probably not.

[ He ignored the pain from his ribs as he got to his feet.]

[Zuko frowned, following Haru with disapproving eyes]

What are you doing?

Standing up?

[frooown]

What for?

Laying in bed is boring.

Just don't hurt yourself, dummy.

[ He walked across the room to Zuko's bed and flopped onto it ignoring the pain he felt.]

[He blinked, turning to stare at the white-haired boy who was suddenly a lot closer.]

Uh... hi.

. . . Sup.

[ He sat on the opposite side of Zuko.]

[confused face goes here]
